One year ago Heart of Chicago Soul Club and our special guests, DJ Cher from Toronto’s Slow Fizz Rare Soul Dance Party and Chicago’s Oliver Fiks, set out to have an All Vinyl, Rare Soul Dance Party in the big, beautiful ballroom at Color Club, 4146 N Elston. Debbie said, “Go big or go home!” — and guess what?! We have filled the dance floors every time, and are celebrating with our 1 year anniversary dance party on Saturday, July 27th! We are thrilled to announce that at 8pm Miss Sophia from Jiving.com will be teaching a half hour Northern Soul Dance Lesson, so get there early to learn or sharpen your skills.
We have been so amazed and grateful at the response to our events. It’s been a stellar year hosting parties at Color Club and the Hideout, and sharing a variety of vintage 60’s and 70’s, Rare and Northern Soul, Vintage RnB, Psyche and Latin Soul music across Chicago. We have also had a blast spinning at pop-up events around the city, such as Reckless Records Record Store Day, International Fashion Fest, Motoblot, Millennium Park’s 20th year Anniversary (July 20th), and so much more.
We can’t wait to be back at Color Club to see old faces and meet new ones. There are no gimmicks here, just a love of sharing rare soul and northern soul music and dancing. Chicago is a great soul town and we support all our DJ friends and soul nights. DJs Debbie, Rockin’ Ricki, Kat and Syreeta/Psyche Prissy Pie wouldn’t play anything we wouldn’t dance to, so you’ll be sure to find us dancing out on the floor with you all.
